My name is Meryem, I’m a UNICEF Youth Advocate and ambassador of Arab reading challenge. I’m 15 years old, and I’m Moroccan. I have many hobbies, especially reading, writing, swimming, and drawing.

I decided to become a youth advocate for children's rights because I saw the challenges many children face and I felt a strong desire to make a difference. I believe every child deserves a safe and supportive environment to grow up in, and I wanted to use my voice to help bring attention to their needs and rights. It’s important to me to stand up for those who may not be able to stand up for themselves.

I advocate for the rights of all children without exception, because I believe that every child has the right to enjoy his or her rights, without any neglect or deprivation. However, I mostly focus on the issue of education, as I value and understand the importance of knowledge and education, especially for children, because they are the leaders of nations.

There is a close relationship between education and a child’s wellbeing, as receiving high-quality education provides children with the full ability to learn, develop their self-awareness, and enhance their cognitive skills. It also helps in developing a conscious generation capable of taking responsibility in the future.

My personal experience as a UNICEF Youth Advocate has truly been unforgettable and will remain etched in my memory. In this role, I learned a range of information and skills. I had the opportunity to meet young advocates from all around the world, and I learned a lot from them and about advocacy championing children’s rights.

I want the world to know that children are also living human beings who deserve to have their rights and opinions respected because they are the pillars of future progress and development.

A world with rights for every child would be one filled with peace and security for all. It would also be a developed and conscious world, where every child can thrive and reach his or her full potential.

To all children and young people who want to take action: believe in your voices and abilities. Every effort, no matter how small, can make a difference. Stay determined, educate yourselves on the issues that matter to you, and don’t be afraid to stand up for what you believe in. Together we can shape the future we want.
